Tips for Safe Rafting in Bali

The Bali whitewater rafting is FUN, I remember it like it was yesterday, the day my teacher almost drowned while rafting in Bali on the Telaga Waja River.
This is the part of history from some other rafter.
The guide scrambled to his feet and yelled at everybody to “Paddle!!!” A hydraulic is hard enough to paddle through with all passengers, but with half your raft not in position, it was even worse.
The few who could paddle did. They got the raft out of the hydraulic, the teacher was still clinging to that yellow rope and he was whisked to the shore in two seconds.
He was cut, scraped and bleeding and he’d lost his glasses and a shoe . . . but he was OK.

Mode of Bali Transportations

The main forms of public transport n Bali are the cheap buses, minibuses and bemos that run on somewhat set routes within or between towns. Having your own transport can be arranged; there are bemos, cars, motorbikes, and bicycles for rent. Tourist shuttle buses that run between major tourist centers are more expensive than public transport but are definitely more comfortable and convenient.

Bemo

This is a generic term for any vehicle that is used as a public transport, which is normally a minibus or van with a row of low seats on each side. It is a great way to meet the locals, even though it is hot, dusty and full of diesel exhaust. The exciting part is that you do not have to get to a bemo stop to board a bemo, just extend your arm and flag one down! The fares may be cheap but beware of pickpockets.
